GIS Mapping

The map cultivates a geotagged corpus of agricultural sites, forests, hunting locations, buildings, animal habitats, environments, and lands where women were identified as having engaged with or owned. The GIS map visually displays women’s activities within nature, the historical exploitation of environments, the landscape changes over time, and types of natural locations (constructed parks/natural woodlands). The scientific contribution of the GIS map derives from being able to visualise the geography, topography, and patterns of movements and activity that are not readily evident in textual sources.
